My fn + f8 TV/LCD switch is not working on my notebook?
I have an Asus laptop. For the last couple of weeks I enjoyed using my notebook monitor as an external monitor on my TV. I have the cables. It worked perfectly. All I had to do was press FN + F8 and the screen would appear on the TV. It was great I could watch my movies on my TV screen.
Suddenly, yesterday when I press the FN + F8 swtich it doesn’t
go to the TV. In the past when I pressed it my screen would become dark and appear on the TV. Now all it does is become dark for about 1 second, and then go back to normal. It won’t show up on my TV. It is only dark for a split second. The odd thing is when I press FN + F7 which is the LCD screen, my screen becomes dark. But when I do it with f8 which is LCD/TV it is only dark for 1 split second and then back to normal.
i re-booted the notebook a few times. Didn’t work. I used system restore to go back a few days, didn’t work either. I been looking at forums for advice, nothing seems to help.
Any help would be greatly appeciated!
You might try reinstalling the drivers for your video card. Sometimes they get corrupted and then Windows will pick a generic one. When it does, it limits its capabilities to basic functionality.
