Comparing prices in laptops?
I went shopping with my mom today for my dad’s birthday (which was on Halloween, but he’s not at home for a while) to get him a laptop and accessories. The first laptop I saw was a gorgeous Dell Inspiron that had so many nice features (backlit keyboard, all the jacks, DVD/CD burner, webcam/mic, etc.). It was also a 17.3″ screen and had Intel and Windows 7, AND a built in wireless network card. And we got it for $699!
I kept browsing the other notebooks when I came upon a Mac Notebook. 2.3K! It was smaller, didn’t have all the specs, and was more than twice the amount. Almost four times as much!! Why the hell are those crappy things so dang expensive?!! Is it just a name brand thing, as opposed to durability and performance?
Why Macs Are more Expensive:
#1 Reason: BRAND!!! Apple is the only maker of the Mac systems, so they’re allowed to set the price at whatever they want
#2 Relatively small learning curve: you can learn to use your mac in less than a day for basic (not including Mac-only applications)
#3 applications: people in the arts/music/whatever drool over macs because of how well photoshop, dreamweaver, and other programs work on it and is one the big incentives
#4 Little to No viruses: a relatively small number of people have macs compared to pcs, so less malware is made for it
#5 Aesthetic designs
Its really a computer made for people looking for high end applications that run well, there’s hardly any compatibility problems with the creative software, while compared to PCs there can be load time issues or corruption
