On a compatible HP Notebook, why does Vista not boot after upgrading from XP Media Center?
The Vista upgrade advisor determined that the HP Pavilion 9013cl entertainment notebook was compatible to upgrade to Vista.
The most likely problem why your Vista upgrade is not working in your HP notebook is that, it is not yet Windows Vista ready although advisory tells it is. Manually check if your notebook meets the ffg minimum hardware requirements to run Vista with specific versions shown below:
For Home Basic Windows Vista:
1) 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
2) 512 MB of system memory
3) 20 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
4) Support for DirectX 9 graphics and 32 MB of graphics memory
5) DVD-ROM drive
6) Audio Output
Home Premium / Business / Ultimate Windows Vista:
1) 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
2) 1 GB of system memory
3) 40 GB hard drive with at least 15 GB of available space
4) Support for DirectX 9 graphics with:
5) WDDM Driver
6) 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)
7) Pixel Shader 2.0 in hardware
32 bits per pixel
9) DVD-ROM drive
10) Audio Output
Check the status how much Hard disk space remaining, physical RAM, and shared video memory.
If your laptop lacks the necessary hardware requirement or status listed above, then you need to revert to your old OS or make your HP comply with the minimum requirements first.
