How is the HP Pavilion DV6000z? Would this be a good choice for college?
How is the HP Pavilion DV6000z? Would this be a good choice for college? I don’t do any gaming, just a lot of word processing and internet. Should I update to 2GB memory? Is the 80 GB hard drive enough for me to save four years of college assigments, store some music, and store hundreds (maybe thousands) of digital pictures too, or should I upgrade to 120 GB? Also, is the AMD processor fast enough or should I upgrade that as well?

Yes it is a good buy, for a very nice unit. Upgrade to 2 GBs, although you can buy a stick from New Egg and put it in yourself if you want to save save some dough. 120 HD seems to becoming the standard now. The Turion X 2 is pretty close to the core 2 duo and worth the savings.

Conclusion
This system will serve the needs of most average computer users. Gamers may have issues with the limited graphics card, and the touchpad buttons definitely take some time to get used to. However, the system has plenty of power for the average user and for the occasional game, and also is a great aesthetically looking system.
Pros:
Great looking system.
Plenty of power and RAM for the average user.
Great speakers.
Comes with remote control and media buttons.
Cons:
Touchpad buttons have a huge travel distance.
No PCMCIA slot or DVI out
No recovery software without burning your own.
Very susceptible to fingerprints.
Limited video card.
