Computer processors comparison help please?

right now, i have a desktop a really old one, 2002 i think, compaq presario s3000nx, amd athlon xp processor 1.67 GHz, and im gonna upgrade to a laptop.
i have been surfing the net, looking for laptops
i want to know what is the difference between pentium, athlon, and celeron.
and how will they compare to my current desktop?

these are some that im considering:
celeron http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9168143&type=product&id=1218041995463
athlon http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9168063&type=product&id=1218041998438
pentium http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9173217&type=product&id=1218044029374

im really leaning towards the cheaper one. is there really a significant difference between them?

Seems to me like hte first one isn’t a dual core, at least it doesn’t say so. It also only has 2GB of memory which is crap for Vista. It’s kind of a crappy laptop honestly.
Second one is dual core, has a bigger hard drive, way better graphics card.
3rd is a dual core with a slightly slower processor (I think) than the second. Smaller display. Good video card.

They don’t only differ in processor speeds, they have a lot of different features from each other.

Comparison: Asus eee 901 and 1201n
