Recently, a new sophisticated device from Vivo appeared on the Geekbench and 3C certification site. This device is called Vivo X Fold S and is an upgrade of the Vivo X Fold.
Vivo X Fold was announced in February this year. It came with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. This device did not make it to global markets, but hopefully there will be a successor.
Vivo's powerful new foldable device has been spotted on Geekbench and 3CGeekbench has confirmed that Vivo X Fold S will be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The device is listed under the model number "V2229A". It scored 1319 points in single-core tests and 4045 points in multi-core tests.
This particular model includes 12 GB of RAM, although there are many storage and RAM options available. The listing also mentions that Android 12 will come pre-installed on the device.
The upcoming foldable Vivo has also received 3C certification in China. This certificate confirms that the device supports fast charging, i.e. 80W fast wired charging.
In a separate post, popular digital chat station Digital Chat Station revealed more information about the device. The Vivo X Fold S will have a 120Hz primary display, although the secondary panel will also offer a higher refresh rate.
The LTPO board is reserved for the main screenHowever, the main screen will be an LTPO panel and will be able to switch from 1Hz to 120Hz. The tipster also mentioned a 4,700 mAh battery and an ultrasonic display. The phone also offers a leather back panel and a periscope camera.
Note that Vivo X Fold S will be officially launched in China soon. We still don't know if this device will make it to global markets. Chinese OEMs have been cautious about releasing sophisticated devices outside of China. This is one of the reasons for Samsung's absolute dominance in the global foldable phone market.
A number of Chinese OEMs are planning to release their flagship devices globally, and we expect Vivo to be among them.
