Apple In November: No New Macs Or IOS Updates, But A Lot Is Still On The Way

As we approach the end of the year, Apple's biggest releases are in our rearview mirror: the annual flagship operating systems, iPhone and iPad, AirPods and Mac have all been released. It's rumored to bring new MacBooks with M2 Pro and Max processors in November, but recent rumors claim they've been pushed back to 2023. While Apple is working on iOS 16.2 and macOS Ventura 13.1, those updates aren't expected until December .

But there's more to come this month. New beta versions of operating system updates are coming, and let's not forget Apple's ever-evolving services – there's always plenty of content for Apple TV+ and Apple Arcade. If you're looking for discounts on Apple products (or accessories), November is the best month to shop, as Black Friday deals tend to be some of the lowest prices you'll find all year.

New and Rumored Devices

Apple TV 4K (3rd generation): The new Apple device we know will be released in November is the third generation Apple TV 4K. Already announced in October, shipping began on November 4. With a new entry-level price of under $129, with double the memory and an A15 processor, it's a nice upgrade from the last model. The new Siri remote also has a USB-C charging port instead of Lightning. If you're considering it, we'd recommend the $149 model, which gives you 128GB, but more importantly, an Ethernet port and wired networking.

MacBook Pro M2: The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models have been slated to ship in the fall for months. We thought they would arrive in late October or early November, but now the latest rumors suggest that the new Macbook M2 Pro/Max, along with macOS Ventura 13.3 (and possibly the new Mac mini and iMac), won't arrive by March. That would make 2022 the first fall in five years without a new Mac release.

black friday sale

Apple has never offered discounts in its stores, but it hosts an annual four-day shopping event that runs from Black Friday to Cyber Monday (November 25-28 this year). According to previous years, it usually includes iPhone 13, iPad Air, third-generation AirPods, etc.

Software and Software Updates

October brings the first major update to iOS 16, along with the release of this year's first major operating system update (iPadOS 16.1 and macOS Ventura 13.0) for iPad and Mac. Expect a few more betas in November as Apple tweaks the new features, though the general release may not come until December. If you use smart things at home with the Home app and Siri, this should be a substantial improvement.

iOS 16.2: The Home app is being overhauled to be faster and more reliable, but you'll need to update all other Apple products to version 16.2 (and macOS 13.1) for everything to run smoothly. Also included is a new Freeform app for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

iPadOS 16.2 – This version adds the Freeform app and restores external display support for Stage Manager on the iPad M1 and M2.

macOS 13.1: The first update for macOS Ventura brings the new Freeform app and a redesigned startup architecture.

tvOS 16.2: The new Siri experience is the highlight of this release, with a new user interface and multi-user voice recognition.
