Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Vs 5 Pro: Whats The Difference?
In previous years, Samsung watches had obvious and visible design deviations, but none of that happened with the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 family.
The Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro look very similar, and there is no classic model that looks more like an analog watch. What's the difference between them?
At least that part is easy. While the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is clearly superior in many ways, the price difference means it's not an easy choice for buyers.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 vs. 5 Pro. Price
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro costs around 60% less than the Galaxy Watch 5 at $449.
You'll pay $329 for the 44mm 5 watch or $279 for the smaller 40mm version. However, all three watches sell for significantly less than those prices, even in Samsung's store, so take a look before you buy.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 vs 5 Pro design
Without the classic model, this year's Galaxy Watch 5 and 5 Pro are pretty similar. It's a smartwatch design that doesn't really try to mimic a regular analog watch, although you can certainly use that style of watch.
The standard Galaxy Watch 5 comes in two sizes: 40mm and 44m. The Samsung Pro model is only available in 45mm.
However, there are only two screen sizes here: 1.2 and 1.4 inches. That's why the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is actually the most expensive, least advanced of the three, even though it's the most expensive.
However, it has a higher quality construction with a titanium outer shell instead of aluminum. Titan is stronger. This metal is often used as a lighter alternative to steel, but since none of these watches use steel, the Pro is also the heaviest of the three, weighing in at 46g.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 vs 5 Pro battery life
The battery life is why some of you have to settle for the larger bezel of the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. It has a 590mAh battery installed, which is large by smartwatch standards.
That's even more capacity than the Apple Watch Ultra's 542mAh. Samsung rates it at 80 hours, just under 3.5 days. While it doesn't have the longevity of a not-so-smart fitness tracker, it pretty much solves the battery headache of classic smartwatches.
Samsung evaluates two more Galaxy Watch 5 models in 40 hours. However, the 44mm version will give you much better battery life than the 40mm version. As in previous years, some of you may know that the little Samsung watch only lasts a day between charges. Not well.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 vs 5 Pro. Features:
All Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 watches share the same basic hardware and touch capabilities. However, there are additional plans for the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
It's all about tracks, practice routes, and turn-by-turn navigation. They put the Samsung Galaxy Watch Pro into more direct competition with something like the Garmin Fenix
You can download GPS files to your watch so that you can track walking and running routes without Wi-Fi or any other internet connection. Track Track also allows you to navigate back to your starting point along a route you've already traveled.
What are gpx files? This is a file that contains GPS waypoints, a digital way to save walking routes, etc. There are websites and phone apps that can help you create one.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro doesn't offer true offline maps, but these extra features make the watch even more appealing to outdoor fitness enthusiasts.
