Redmi's fast charging technology has become even more ridiculous. In this Weibo post, the Xiaomi-owned phone maker shows off its new 300W fast charging technology that can charge your phone in just five minutes, as previously spotted by Android Authority .
If you don't believe me, you can see it for yourself here. Redmi is introducing a modified version of the Note 12 Discovery Edition, which is equipped with a super-fast charger instead of a 4,100 mAh battery instead of a 4,300 mAh battery.
The dual-GaN device is capable of charging half of a phone's battery in just two minutes, and when the five minutes are up, it will be 100 percent. That's enough to finish breakfast cereal or even load the dishwasher.
Although Redmi advertises its charger as capable of charging up to 300W, it only reaches around 290W during the charging process. Still, it's a pretty impressive feat, beating the company's previous record of charging the Note 12 Discovery Edition with 240W in nine minutes.
It also beats Chinese phone maker Realme, which earlier this month showed off its fast charging technology that can charge the new GT Neo 5 in less than 10 minutes. Other Chinese phone companies, including OnePlus, have tried to create a standard for ultra-fast charging, but they have yet to match Redmi's latest charging times. But hey, at least the OnePlus 10T is available in the US and can be fully charged in about 20 minutes.
We don't know if Redmi will bring this technology to one of its smartphones, but it looks like it might. After all, if the company added a nine-minute charging feature to its China-launched Note 12 Discovery Edition, what's to stop it from making it faster for future customers?
