Sold new in Japan in 1967, first year of production, this example, chassis no. 10164, ordered in Pegasus White with black upholstery. Like most 2000 GTs, most cars are right-hand drive as they are sold in Japan. The car remained in Japan until 2013, when it was discovered that it had only two owners. It was then sold to the UK where it was an enthusiastic owner before being sold to its current German owner in 2015. Another important post-war sports car on display at Essen is the €1,100,000 1955 Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider America , an excellent example of Lancia's most famous post-war sports car. Recently given an extensive racing face, the Lancia also features the highly desirable and rare hardtop, low top and all-weather side curtains.
Another interesting post-war sports car for sale at Techno Classic in Essen is the 1981 BMW M1 . Priced at €550,000, it was one of the last models ever produced and, according to BMW Classics, it was newly imported to the UK. In January 1981. Since the M1 was not available in RHD, this car must have been the LHD version and was then owned by a wealthy Iranian immigrant in Switzerland. In the summer of 2005, the M1 was exported to Germany and sold to its current owner shortly after. Due to its exceptional condition, the car entered a major international competition and was presented at the exclusive Privy Showroom in London and then exhibited at Classic Days at Schloss Dyck.
