A high-profile progressive group has dropped its opposition investigation into Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ahead of the presidential campaign announcement on Monday.
The study, published on the independent website DeSantisResearchbook, calls DeSantis an "extreme MAGA" and highlights his voting record in Congress and his actions as governor. American Bridge 21st Century, the group behind the dump, called DeSantis a "vain governor" and a "hypocrite," though the report did not substantiate the allegations.
The site outlines DeSantis' political history in an issue-by-issue format, listing his voting record and positions on issues such as hurricane relief, abortion and the economy.
Bridges of America called DeSantis a "misguided, corrupt and tyrannical politician" for his feud with Disney last year, a move that pushed his popularity across party lines.

Pat Dennis, president of American Bridge, told Axios that DeSantis is "caught up in the culture wars, unfit for office and completely unprepared for the public pressure that will come with the Republican presidential primaries."

Although DeSantis has yet to announce his 2024 Republican campaign, he is the most credible challenger to former President Donald Trump. While DeSantis leads Trump in several states, he trails the former president in most polls.
DeSantis' office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

The website says many Democrats see DeSantis as a major threat to President-elect Biden's chances if he wins the Republican nomination. American Bridge also launched an opposition research website targeting Trump in 2020.
Republicans who have announced campaigns so far include Trump, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy. However, several top players are expected to participate in the tournament, including DeSantis himself.
Vice President Mike Pence is likely to throw his hat in the ring in the near future, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is a likely candidate.
