Vivo has announced the second-generation Vivo X Fold 2 foldable smartphone in the form of a book. This is technically the company's third book-shaped foldable smartphone, but the Vivo X Fold+ was more or less a mid-range device.

In any case, Vivo X Fold 2 has a number of improvements over its predecessor, and one of the main ones is its weight. This thing is much lighter than the Vivo X Fold 2. That device weighed 311 grams, and this one weighs 278 grams. It's still heavy, but keep in mind that this is a large foldable phone.

The foldable Vivo X Fold 2 is now official and looks like the company's "regular" flagships.

The Vivo X Fold 2 has been launched in China and at the moment we don't know if it will make it to other markets. The device definitely looks like a relative of the flagship Vivo X90 series, which the company announced not so long ago.

This is also a flagship phone, but a sophisticated one. Speaking of which quickly, let's take a look at its design. As you can see in the images provided, the device has vegan leather on the back. It has a circular camera bay on the back with ZEISS optics on board. It is composed and its structure is made of metal.

The Vivo X Fold 2 is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SOC, 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB UFS 4.0 flash storage. So Vivo really spared no effort.

It has two 120Hz displays, each with an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The main display measures 8.03 inches and is a Samsung E6 AMOLED QHD+ (2160 x 1916) panel. This is an LTPO display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. HDR10+ is supported, as is Dolby Vision, and the display's brightness can reach 1800 nits peak.

The second panel is a 6.53-inch FullHD+ (2520 x 1080) unit. It's also a Samsung E6 AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The brightness of this panel reaches 1600 nits at the maximum point.

It comes with 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

There is a 4800 mAh battery on board. The device supports 120W wired charging as well as 50V wireless charging. By the way, reverse wireless charging is also included in the package.

Android 13 is preinstalled on the device along with OriginOS 3 in China. When it launches globally, it will ship with Vivo's Funtouch OS. It includes two built-in fingerprint scanners, one for each phone screen. By the way, these are ultrasonic fingerprint scanners.

The phone has dual SIM slots (2x nano SIM) and supports 5G (SA/NSA) connectivity. Bluetooth 5.3 is of course also included in the box.

On the back you will find three interesting cameras with ZEISS optics.

The 50MP main camera (Sony IMX866 sensor, f/1.75 aperture, OIS, ZEISS T* coating, V2 chip) is supported by a 12MP ultra-wide camera (Sony IMX633 sensor, 108-degree field of view, f/1.2.0) on the other side. The third camera on the back is a 12MP vertical telephoto lens (f/1.98 aperture). There is also a single 16-megapixel selfie camera (f/2.45 aperture) on each of the two screens.

The Vivo X Fold 2 measures 161.29 x 143.43 x 5.95mm when unfolded and 161.29 x 73.42 x 12.9mm when folded. Note that this is for the black model, the red and blue models are slightly thicker for some reason at 13.2mm. By the way, these are the three color options available on this phone. The colors are officially called Shadow Black, China Red and Azure Blue.

The two Vivo X Fold 2 models are priced at 8,999 Yuan ($1,380) and 9,999 Yuan ($1,455) in China. Both models have 12 GB of RAM, but they have different storage capacities (256 GB and 512 GB).

Official Vivo X Fold 2 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 120W charging and above has made its first Android headlines.
